Basic Information

We will be travelling to far South Texas (just past South Padre Island) to Los Fresnos, TX.  We are working with the organization Juntos Servimos.  Right now we do not know what our work will be.  Last year, we worked on repairs to a local church and built benches.  We are asking youth to pay $300 each to help cover the costs of this trip.  The $300 will cover everything except snacks/souvenirs on the trip.  We are looking at different fund raisers to help with the expenses, but no one will ever be turned away because of funding.

 

Unlike the trips we've recently been taking to Oklahoma, this trip will be a 10-12 hour drive.  We will be leaving at 7am on Sunday (July 13), and we will return at 9pm on Saturday (July 19).  We will have a packing party at 7pm on Saturday (July 12) to help us get out of town on time.  We will have time to play at the beach, try some local fun spots, and spend some peaceful time together in the evenings.  On Friday (July 18), we will spend the day at Schlitterbahn at South Padre Island.

 

We are staying at the Los Fresnos UMC.  We will be sleeping on the floor, but they have a couple of showers and a fully equipped kitchen.  Participants are welcome to bring air mattresses to sleep on if the floor doesn't seem like a fun idea.  Please print out a copy of the packing list from the link above and also fill out the medical release form.  We are not going into Mexico, so no one will need a passport for this trip.
